Description

The Banff International Research Station will host the "Coupled Mathematical Models for Physical and Biological Nanoscale Systems and Their Applications" workshop from August 28th to September 2nd, 2016.

Nanoscale systems are ubiquitous in nature and a man-made world. They are becoming increasingly important in many key areas of human well-beings, including environmental sustainability, alternative energy sources, and medicine. Methods of mathematics with the development of physics-based mathematical models in this field provide a fundamental ingredient for our better understanding of such systems.

By bringing together some of the world-leading researchers in the field, this workshop is devoted to the study of such systems, their mathematical analysis, modelling, and applications.

The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT)..
