Description

The Banff International Research Station will host the "New Perpsectives in Univariate and Multivariate Orthogonal Polynomials" workshop from October 10 to 15, 2010.

Some of the world's leading experts in univariate and multivariate orthogonal polynomials will participate in a conference to be held at Banff International Research Station. Orthogonal polynomials have a myriad of applications ranging from signal processing to mathematical physics to numerical analysis.

This event is organized by Tom Bloom of the University of Toronoto, Plamen Iliev of Georgia Institute of Technology, and Ed Saff of Vanderbilt University, and will bring togethere experts in these areas, to facilitate an exchange of ideas.

The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the US National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnologia (CONACYT).
